Developmental trauma in adolescents and adults, can show up in a wide range of diagnoses: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attachment disorder, dissociative identity disorder (DID), ADHD, conduct disorder , obsessive– compulsive disorder (OCD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), narcissistic personality disorder, dependent personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, Asperger’s syndrome (now referred to as high level autism), eating disorder, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse.

Developmental trauma patients all share two core problems: fear and affect disregulation. Unrelenting ambient fear makes empathy impossible. The absence of empathy, and emotion, as well as sensory dysregulation, are all central aspects of developmental trauma.  Neurofeedback training helps to quiet fear, and through this extinction, the symptoms of these disorders significantly diminish.
