Mindfulness Check-In

Like a GPS, our thoughts are crucial in determining where we are and what direction we are going in life.
THE WAY YOU THINK DETERMINES THE WAY YOU ARE!
It all starts with a thought
Thoughts lead to feelings, which lead to emotions, which influence our decisions, which determine actions, which result in habits, which lead to our character and ultimately determine our destiny!
Therefore, it is so important to take control of our thought life.

Distribute small reminder dot stickers. Place in key locations throughout home, workspace, vehicle, etc. (Wherever you would frequently notice the sticker as a reminder to “check in”)

“Check in” and survey the following, adjust as necessary:

Thoughts: Positive or negative?
Emotions/Feelings: happy, sad, depressed, calm or anxious,etc.
Mental Constructs: Are they true? Be honest with self and refute thoughts audibly if necessary.

Posture

Muscle tension (do progressive relaxation exercise if necessary)

Breathing (deep abdominal breathing or shallow chest breathing)
Do breathing exercise if necessary, but definitely pause and take a cleansing breath!

Now here’s an acronym so you can remember without looking on this sheet… TPMB= Thought Police Minding Business!
